Data Analysts are responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from various sources. These professionals use reporting systems and data management to collect and organize data drawn from databases. They develop methodologies and rules for effective data management and use their knowledge to select and extrapolate data patterns using computerized models. They may work at clinical settings or in a company.
Data Analysts usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Collecting data for databases.
• Teaming up with other professionals to design statistical analyses.
• Making presentations.
• Analyzing data using statistical methods.
• Coding variable from original data.

Applicants also must have knowledge about excel spreadsheets, C++ programs, computer software, and experience in business administration area. Some professionals working on this field also have a MBA to get better job opportunities, though it is not necessary for being hired in these jobs. Experience is a valuable point for employers, so candidates for data analyst jobs in, for instance, insurance or politics fields are required to have one or two years of work experience in those areas.
