Case Managers are responsible for helping families or individuals to deal with complex circumstances. They provide services to people in order to give them the highest quality of life possible. These professionals identify problems and needs of families and then gather the necessary resources to meet their goals. They may work for both non-profit and public companies and specialize in one area such as addiction, aging, health care, disability, immigration services, child welfare, among others.

Case Managers usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Maintaining confidentiality of client´s cases.
• Making sure all services provided meet policies of the organization.
• Contacting clients.
• Coordinating services.
• Indentifying client´s needs.

Education

Persons who want to be Case Managers are required to have a Bachelor´s Degree in Social Work as a minimum requirement. Among courses included in this area are cultural diversity, human behavior, research methods, social justice, among other subjects. In several cases, candidates are required to have a Master´s degree or PhD in order to become a human resource manager or case manager supervisor. Once applicants complete their college degree, they need to have some hours of supervised field instruction and hours of internship experience, in the case of Master´s or Doctorate Degree.
