Candidates for Caregiver job placements are not required to have specific academic qualifications. People working on this sector usually have rehabilitation training and nursing training in order to get suitable knowledge and skills for these jobs. It is recommended that candidates for this area also have a general health course and CPR training to have better job opportunities. Certification is not mandatory in this field, but there is a voluntary certification offered by The National Association for Home Care and Hospice. This program requires that applicants have 75 hours of coursework. Some professionals associations available in this sector are the National Family Caregivers Association, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, the National Alliance for Caregiving, among other organizations.
