Au Pair workers are required to help families with childcare duties. They may also perform domestic tasks and some housekeeping duties in exchange for a small salary and a room. This work usually requires that the host family reside the child care provider in their own home. They usually work for an agency that decides in which house they are going to have a job.

Au Pair workers usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Dressing and bathing small children.
• Assisting children´s meals.
• Taking children to and from school.
• Monitoring child activity.
• Cleaning children´s bedroom

Specific requirements to be an Au Pair worker vary according to agencies and places to work. They must have experience working with children and be at least 18 years old. It is recommended that candidates have a High School Diploma as a minimum, a clear criminal record, and a driver´s license in order to take children to school. Experience for this area can be obtained through babysitting, helping with recreational activities at Sunday school, or working in a childcare center.
