Being responsible for the installation, maintenance or servicing of buildings, equipment and other company resources is the job of a Facilities Manager. These professionals are proficient in building and safety codes, and ISO regulations. They have not only maintenance and repair responsibilities, but supervisory and budgetary responsibilities as well.
A Facilities Manager usually performs many of the following tasks:
• Educating employees
• Preparing budgets
• Coordinating with other departments
• Recruiting new staff
• Assessing employee performance
• Maintaining the company resources
• Developing work schedules

Education
To be successful in facilities management persons will have to pursue at least a Bachelors degree in this area. The knowledge and skills gained, will allow professionals to perform their job responsibilities effectively. In this degree Facilities Managers learn about the architectural and construction process, as well as building maintenance.
Applicable certifications for this job include a Certified Facility Manger (CFM) credential. Persons who work as superintendent or an assistant superintendent are often promoted to this position. Courses often pursued by Facilities Managers include Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or Public Administration.
