An Administrative Assistant offers clerical and secretarial support to employees. These assistants are able to create documents using Microsoft Office applications, operate office equipment, distribute internal and external mailings, and performing other ad hoc daily office tasks.
Assistants handle calls and deal with office guests. They offer refreshments while visitors wait on appointments to begin. They also arrange and schedule maintenance and It personnel to come in and do performance checks on equipment. Admin Assistants work in many different industries. They receive good salaries and benefits according to their job positions, location, and the type of company.
The responsibilities of an Administration Assistant include:
• Updating databases
• Drafting presentations, reports, memos and other correspondence
• Scheduling meetings and office functions
• Booking hotels, accommodation, conference rooms, and flights
• Screening calls and emails
• Ordering office stationery and supplies
• Arranging for equipment maintenance
• Conducting company orientation with new hires
• Electronic filing
• Distributing UPS/Fed Ex/Airborne packages
• Maintain records for the distribution and assignment of company property

Administrative assistant should possess at least a High School Diploma. They must be capable of performing administrative functions or office tasks. Graduates can also hold administrative and Secretarial certificates and diplomas.
