Physical Therapists are required to diagnose and treat patients of all ages who have medical problems. They examine each patient and create a plan using treatment techniques in order to reduce pain, prevent disability, and restore functions. Among conditions treated by these professionals are arthritis, stroke, amputations, strains, neck injuries, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, fractures, among other health problems. They team up with other professionals such as dentists, nurses, educators, physicians, occupational therapists, and social workers.

Candidates for Physical Therapist job placements are required to have a Post-Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited physical therapy program. Academic schemes available for this area are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education. Master´s Degrees for this sector last two or two years and a half, while Doctoral Degrees last three years. Courses in these programs include subjects like anatomy, cellular histology, biology, physiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, radiology, and pathology. Licensure and certification programs require that applicants attend workshops and have continuing education in order to retain these qualifications.
