Dance Teachers are responsible for leading dance classes for individual or groups of people. Their duties are closely related to teaching various dancing techniques. They may work at production companies and also at schools, universities, and colleges. These teachers give lessons to both children and adults by demonstrating dances before the class, in order to effectively teach students new moves.
 
Dance Teachers usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Monitoring student´s performance.
• Planning activities.
• Instructing students at home.
• Making suggestions to students.
• Adapting teaching methods to meet student´s needs.

People who want to work as Dance Teachers need to have degree programs offered by some Colleges and Performing Arts schools. Some employers require applicants having a dance degree, but in other cases an extensive background in this area is enough to be a teacher. There are employers that require past work experience and also a certification in a dance teaching method. These certifications include techniques such as belly dance, classical ballet, ballroom dance, among others.

Candidates who want to give dance lessons at High School will need a teaching credential, a degree in Dance, and suitable work experience. In the case of Colleges, applicants need a graduate degree or a Master of Fine Arts related to choreography and dance techniques.
