  • not enough exeperience but need money! advice! Last updated by Marshall: Oct 30, 2017 View last comments

I am looking for a java developer job but the thing is that I only have 1 year experience and every vacancy I come across asks for mora that 5years experience therefore I barely apply to any … What should I do ? should I keep looking? Or should I apply to everything? Another solution is maybe apply for internships … but they don’t pay much and I need more money to move out of my parents house. Any advice?

    • Hey there! I can relate so much!! It’s so hard how a days because either you find internships or vacancies that ask mora many years of experience.. So What I’m going to do is just keep looking for something that suits me.. I don’t think that apply to everything is a good idea … if they need someone with experience and you don’t have it you’re both going to have a hard time working so.. Good luck!

    • Well in your case I’d apply so some that look for 2 o 3 years’ experience as well just in case they can’t find anyone with that experience that they like they can always interview you and if you show your motivation and willing to learn etc you can maybe get the job. Motivation and attitude play a big role when looking for a candidate. A bunch of experience but no motivation is worthless.

    • Hello jake , well .. to be honest if you don’t need the money asap you should consider taking an internship for at least a year. You’ll gain experience and enrich you cv! Internships are really helpful when starting out! Then in a couple years you’ll have more knowledge and will be able to find a better job and faster! So consider it and give it a go. And thing about it in two years you’ll have a stable job where you’ll be able to afford a rent without a problem , now with only one year’s experience you won’t be able to choose much when it comes to apartments.. just letting you know because it something my friends did and I wish I did it as well!!

    • Hey there Jake , Are you employed right now? Because if you are stay there for another year, with two years of experience you can start to look for a more high paying job. In the meanwhile you can take some courses to expand your knowledge. Then one year from now you’ll have a much complete cv and it won’t matter if you have less experience than what there are asking because how Joseph says they also look for people with motivation and you seem passionate about it, so don’t worry kid. Keep working hard for a year and you’ll make your path easier.
