Cashiers are responsible for receiving and returning back the remaining money to the client´s purchases. They use a drawer with a certain amount of money and every time a customer purchases anything, they receive the money and return back the change. These professionals enter transactions either in a computer or a book and keep track of the goods sold. They also receive orders on phone for further delivering.
Cashiers usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Recording transactions.
• Receiving cash or cards.
• Packing items.
• Scanning bar codes.
• Promoting new products.

• Having good communication skills.
• Being able to work for long hours.
• Having basic math skills.
• Being patient.
• Having knowledge about credit card swipe devices and scanners.
• Being able to do repetitious work.
• Having knowledge about various money handling techniques.
• Being neat and tactful.
• Having good manual dexterity.
• Being proficient in operating a computer.
Education
Applicants for Cashier jobs need to have a High School Diploma as a minimum. They also require having basic knowledge of computers, math skills, and good customer service skills. Most people working on this business learn their work by observing other cashiers in the same job. Some employers train candidates for few weeks, including an overview and policies of this business, equipment operation, security, and procedures. Then trainees are assigned to a register under the supervision of an experienced cashier.
