HVAC or Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration is the area responsible for providing a comfortable, climate controlled environment to clients. Some workers of this field are HVAC Technicians and they are required to install temperature control systems, and repair and maintain those systems. They also ensure that the installation is conducted according to local regulations and systems are suitable for the air conditioning and heating requirements. These technicians may work at companies specialized in climate control solutions or as independent contractors.

HVAC workers usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Installing climate control systems.
• Maintaining air conditioning systems.
• Checking ventilation efficiency.
• Repairing technical problems.
• Designing heating systems.

Education

Candidates for HVAC Technician jobs are required to have courses related to this field from Junior Colleges, Community Colleges, or Technical Schools. These programs last six months to two years and may include an apprenticeship scheme with a certified provider of this industry. Most employers demand applicants having more than six months of work experience. There are separate apprenticeships that last between three to five years. Candidates for these programs need to have a High School Diploma as a minimum qualification for application. These courses combine classroom instruction with hands-on training. Those who want to work as HVAC Mechanics are required to have a Bachelor´s or Associate´s Degree in Engineering or related subjects, including two or three years of work experience.
